Saama is a group of premium wellness resorts proposed for six remote locations across the globe with unique environmental and cultural heritage qualities. The Saama experience emphasises mindfulness, well-being and harmony for the body and soul.
Each resort’s character reflects its location, which is either a secluded island or a mountain playground. The design brief requires the architecture to draw from the local culture as much as the natural environment.
Saama Virgin Islands is the first of the Saama resorts. Overlooking a sheltered bay on the east coast of Jost Van Dyke Island, the resort will offer 14 private villas with modular flexibility to accommodate various guest configurations. A bar and restaurant, wellness centre and infinity pool will be the private domain of resort guests. Saama Virgin Islands will also have a public beach bar for day visitors wanting to enjoy the view and sample the house rum.
Consistent with the overriding ethos, the project philosophy includes sustainable design and construction, as well as a carbon neutral operation. The project also includes a Category 5 hurricane shelter to accommodate the island community as well as guests.
