Developing aesthetic treatments that interface with modular building components.

Module-based building design has many advantages - logistics and environmental sustainability are among them. This can also come at a cost or disadvantage as well, as the distinctive steel surface of example modules such as sea containers can impact both interior and exterior aesthetics.

Project Intermedia is developing ways to mesh modular structures with alternative surface and interfacing treatments to address both the aesthetic and functional performance of the building as a whole. A key outcome of Project Intermedia has been Elemental's Remote Sustainable Building System (RSBS).
